WORD WEAVER

Cynthia C. Barlow ~
Author, Podcaster,
Communication Coach

THE PAST

For several decades I owned and operated C3 Conversations, Inc., providing leadership development programs for the public as well as a wide variety of corporate clients, some of whom are displayed below. This allowed me to fly across oceans and work with people from all kinds of cultures and backgrounds.

Here’s what I’ve learned: People are just people, no matter where you go. They have the same hopes, same fears, same daily struggles.

My focus has always been enhancing both individual and team performance by improving their EQ (Emotional Intelligence) with a focus on communication. It was all rather serious. I lost my sense of humour there for a while.

Along the way, I hosted a radio show for a couple of years, wrote a few books, two of which won awards, and had a weekly blog for decades.

That was … before the pandemic.

When the world stopped, so did I.

THE PRESENT

I think I just got tired of putting on pantyhose. So, I closed my company in August 2023, and moved from the busy-ness of Toronto to the calm of Belleville, Ontario.

(I mean, come on … Belleville … beautiful town for you non-French speakers.)

While I still enjoy my fulfilling coaching practice – contact me if interested – my focus has turned once again to speaking into a microphone, but this time into one here in my home instead of one on stage.

I launched the podcast Loose Ends, co-hosting with a dear friend and a fellow healer, Valerie Uhlin. We hope folks who listen in will learn a little, laugh a little, and leave feeling lighter. We always do, but then, we’re biased.

Some bullet-point facts:

  • I’m the eldest of six siblings and I lean toward bossy. I call it decisive. My clients seem to love it — my siblings, less so.
  • I’m equally comfortable in flannel shirts or formal wear.
  • I love words, water, dogs, and chocolate — in that order.
  • I dabble in art. Favour pencil precision. Here’s a fish I did for my son that came out well.
Pencil drawing of a bass
  • I’ve been married two times, given birth to two sons, survived two accidental near-death events (not the sons) and have two grandchildren whom I adore. Apparently, I’m a binary system.
  • Lastly, I believe in a coherent universe with which I interact daily – once one learns the language, it’s easy to converse.

Thanks for taking the time to visit my site and read this far.

I hope you chuckled once or twice. And I hope you’ll listen in to a Loose Ends episode and do the same.

It’s good for the soul.

Along the way, I hosted a radio show for a couple of years, wrote a few books, two of which won awards, and had a weekly blog for decades. I’ve influenced thousands and coached hundreds (of people, although I’m good with dogs, too).

That was … before the pandemic.

THE PRESENT

I think I just got tired of putting on pantyhose. The pandemic freed me from that necessity, bless it. So, I closed my company in August 2023, and moved from the busy-ness of Toronto to the calm of Belleville, Ontario.

(I mean, come on … Belleville … beautiful town for you non-French speakers.)

Now, while I still enjoy my wonderful coaching clients, my focus has turned once again to speaking into a microphone, but this time into one right here in my home instead of one on stage.

I launched the podcast Loose Ends, co-hosting with one of my dear friends and a fellow healer. We hope folks who listen in will learn a little, laugh a little, and leave feeling lighter. We always do, but then, we’re biased.

Some bullet-point facts:

  • I’m the eldest of six siblings; I lean toward bossy. My clients seem to love it — my siblings, less so.
  • I’m equally comfortable in flannel shirts or formal wear. Unless pantyhose is involved.
  • I love words, water, dogs, and chocolate — in that order.
  • I dabble in art. Favour pencil precision. Here’s a fish I did for my son.

So, that’s me. Thanks for taking the time to visit my site and read this far.
