“Trade your expectations for appreciation and the world changes instantly.” ~Tony Robbins

William James, the esteemed psychologist, said, “the deepest principle in human nature is the craving to be appreciated.”

The term appreciation is defined by the Oxford Dictionary as “the recognition and enjoyment of the good qualities of someone or something.”

Remember the last time somebody appreciated you for something you did or said? Or simply for being you?

Felt pretty good, didn’t it? Like your insides are smiling.

Well, that feeling of being appreciated can be generated internally without waiting for others to initiate it.

Try this: Appreciate every one that crosses your path today and everything that happens: the traffic slowing you down, the obstacles in your way, the people impeding your progress, the over-due bill, and the petty inconveniences.

All of it.

For one day.

See if you don’t feel pretty damn good at the end of the day.

And then, repeat.

What do you have to lose by trying it?

Might make for a mighty fine week.
