“Friends…they cherish one another’s hopes. They are kind to one another’s dreams.” ~Henry David Thoreau

Last week was the official launch of my newest book, How Deep Is Today?: a bed time story for grown-ups.

The energy in the room was incredible: warm, inclusive, loving.

It was an elegant, relaxed affair at the Verity Club in Toronto. Some people came from great distances to be there, people I hadn’t seen in years. I spoke to folks who reiterated their support of me and my dreams.

Reflecting on the experience the day after, I realized I had gone into this event void of expectations, an unusual thing for a type A eldest child.

I was able to be fully present with them. There. In the moment.

The result? Waves of gratitude for the folks who took time out of their lives to celebrate a milestone in mine.

With or without milestones or celebrations, this releasing of outcomes is an important rung on the happiness ladder.

And it feels pretty darn good to rest awhile upon it.

Courage expands in the light of belief, support and perseverance.

And all of us need friends to help us celebrate the results of it.

“Be strong, be fearless, be beautiful. And believe that anything is possible when you have the right people there to support you.” ~Misty Copeland
